GoDaddy is quite easily the Big Daddy of domain registrars. They are by far the most popular domain registrars out there and have a loyal customer base in over 200 countries. They are also a highly controversial service. 2012 was a particularly bad year for GoDaddy as they found themselves under a lot of fire from the media because of certain PR disasters due to missteps from their top management. hi Emanuel!
You certainly propose 5 good options of sites to purchase domain names. I was not familiar with Hover and Dreamhost but they do seem to offer great services. Are they also both hosting platform? Or just a place to buy a domain name? Or all places to buy domain names also hosting platforms ? lol I am confused! I bought mine with Namecheap and have had no issue whatsoever with it. But I am hosting it elsewhere. Hence my questions 🙂

What a great article! I hadn’t really heard of other places to buy domains besides NameCheap and Go Daddy, but you provide a good list of great alternatives here. I like how simple and conversational your article is. It gets right to the point and lists the pros and cons plainly. Great job!

Great list on where to get your domain name to start your website. Need to look at some of the extras that you will need. Do all of these companies offer the whois guard. How much do they charge for this service. This will block someone from finding your information from your domain name. How much does each charge for hosting for each month or year?

Almost companies offer the Whois guard or Domain Privacy. To check the companies´s plans you only have to click on the respective links on the article.

At this moment Namecheap offer the first year for free for Whois guard and then its $2.71 for year.

Free Domain Privacy Protection is included for all domains registered at DreamHost.

      Hope it helped you.
